a.coherent scattering
b.photoelectric effect
c.Compton effect
d.Edison effect
Q2.Which x ray interaction produce radiographic image of excellent quality
a.pair production
b.photoelectric effect
c.Compton effect
d.photodisintegration
Q3.Scatter radiation encountered in diagnostic radiology comes from which interaction
a.pair production
b.photoelectric effect
c.Compton effect
d.photodisintegration
Q4.True regarding  photoelectric effect  is all except
a.the incident photon energy should be more than the binding energy of  electrons
b.the incident photon is deflected in photoelectric effect
c.characteristic radiation is produced
d.produce  a positive ion

Q5.True regarding Compton scattering is
a.responsible for almost all the scatter radiation in diagnostic radiology
b.interaction of relatively low energy incident photons with outer shell electron
c.the incident photon loses all the energy in the process
d.the recoil electron appear as scatter radiation

ANS-1---d==edison effect
         2---b== photoelectric effect
         3---c==compton effect
         4---b==In photoelectric effect the incident photon disappears giving all of its energy to the electron.The photoelectric effect always produce three end products:characteristic radiation,a positive ion and a photoelectron .The photoelectron  has little penetrating capacity.
       5--a==In Compton scattering,there is interaction of relatively high energy incident photons with outer shell electron,eject it as recoil electron and incident photon itsef is deflected retaining part of energy as scatter radiation.

Two types of interaction are important in radiology
       In a photoelectric absorption, an atom absorbs all the energy of an incident photon.
The photon ceases to exist but the energy is transferred to a photoelectron which is ejected from the atom.

       In a Compton scattering, the photon transfers only some of its energy to a recoil electron.
 As a result the photon is ‘scattered’ or deflected off in a new direction with a lower energy.
